Are you a frosting lover? When you wait for your piece of birthday cake, are you hoping for a corner piece with roses and edges? Personally, I always hope for a center piece.  I want a big square of cake with only enough icing to hold the layers together and lightly coat the top.  I love cake, but traditional buttercream frostings are just too sweet for my taste.

Easy Mocha Chocolate Glaze Icing

This weekend I made my One Bowl Devil’s Food Cake recipe, and I needed some sort of frosting. This is always a dilemma because I have yet to find a frosting that is easy to make and not too sweet.  UNTIL NOW.  This time I made the cake in a bundt pan and drizzled this super easy mocha glaze over the top.

It’s a wonder anyone else got a piece because I wanted to eat the whole cake myself! If you have leftover coffee, then you probably have everything you need to make this mocha glaze.  (In fact, you probably have all the ingredients for the chocolate cake too.)  This glaze icing recipe is as simple as whisking three ingredients together, and you will love the result!

I feel like I did something wrong — 3 ingredients, right? Powdered sugar, coffee, and cocoa powder. There was no nearly enough liquid, so what am I missing? As is, it won’t drizzle any where….

Hi. If you used powdered sugar, it doesn’t take much liquid at all. You can add a little more a teaspoon at a time to get the consistency you want.

Yum. This is easy. Can I drizzle it straight into my mouth? Pinning.

Ha! You should definitely at least leave a lot in the bowl for excessive spoon licking. Thank you, Joybee!

I’m in :-) Though I’m always going to want the corner piece and unless the cake is from-scratch, I will discreetly cover it with a napkin and throw it away. (sorry, but I’m a cake snob like that :-( ) Looking like I’ll lap up your frosting and your cake though. They both look fantastic. And there is so much to love about a 3-ingredient icing icing that contains coffee and cocoa powder!
