Spicy Molasses Chicken

Do you love spicy food? I sure do, so this Spicy Molasses Chicken is right up my alley. It is VERY simple to make, and it is pretty darn hot as written. If you want to reduce the heat, remove the seeds and ribs from the peppers before slicing them, or leave out the jalapenos completely and enjoy it that way. Serve with a cold beer or glass of iced tea at the ready,!

Heat up your dinner with this easy, spicy chicken dish!

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Instructions

  1. Whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, molasses, sugar, and garlic powder. Stir in jalapeno slices. Add chicken, and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 8 hours.
  2. Spray a large skillet with cooking spray, and heat over medium-high heat. Add chicken to hot skillet, and cook about 8 minutes per side, or until cooked through. (These would also be great grilled!)

Notes

This dish might be too spicy for kids, so you could leave out the jalapenos and still have tasty molasses chicken!

Is there a molasses in particular which you used? e.g. pomegranate?

I love the jalapenos on top of the chicken! Pinning! :)

Thank you, Teresa! I didn’t write about putting the peppers on top since I mostly did it for looks (the chicken was plenty spicy on its own). Maybe I’ll write in that I sauteed them with the chicken and put them on top for serving. Definitely made for a nice presentation :)

I think I started liking my food spicier with each pregnancy. If we have a third kid, it’s going to get ridiculous ;) Nice to hear from you, Gloria! xo
