Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray or grease with butter or shortening. Set aside.
In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir cherries and chocolate chips into the flour mixture.
In a medium bowl, whisk together oil, eggs, yogurt, sugar, and vanilla. Stir wet ingredients into dry just until mixed. Use a spring-loaded disher or a 1/3 cup measuring cup to scoop batter evenly into muffin tin.
Bake in preheated oven 15-18 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
You can use your favorite combination of flour. All white flour will give the lightest result, but you could combine white and whole wheat flours or spelt and gluten-free flours (as I did).
You can use fresh or thawed frozen cherries in this recipe with good results.
