Homemade Strawberry Milk Tea

As the summer just kicked in, the kids are at their grandparents for a week and I have all this spare time for myself, I love to spend my afternoons sipping from a strawberry milk tea. Taking some time for reading, spending time with my hubby, and sharing a refreshing, fruity tea is just what a summer afternoon should look like!

The Taste of Strawberry Milk Bubble Tea

This strawberry milk tea with Tapioca pearls tastes like fresh strawberries with a dash of creaminess from the milk. Something that sounds just right for a relaxing summer day! The tea flavor is not too strong in my recipe, however, it keeps all the sweetness from the strawberry syrup under control. Also, I never use too much milk in my tea, as I prefer to keep it refreshing.

So, I would say that the strawberry milk tea tastes like a chilly summer night with your loved one (sweet and calm).

Does Strawberry Milk Bubble Tea Have Caffeine?

Well, that’s why I prefer preparing this tea when my little ones are away. Just imagine serving this good-looking drink with caffeine around my kids. My calm afternoon would become such a drama!

So, yes, there is caffeine in the tea, considering we use black tea or green. Yet, the amount of caffeine is far less than the one from a regular cup of coffee. Also, if you want to make a completely caffeine-free drink, you can replace the tea with milk, and it will just become a milky strawberry bubble drink. This one you can share with your little greedy ones, too.

Easy Strawberry Milk Tea Boba Recipe

Let’s learn together how to make a fine homemade strawberry milk bubble tea with some easy steps and affordable ingredients.

What Is Strawberry Milk Tea Made of?

  • Green or Black Tea: You can use either type of tea you prefer for this recipe. I even went for a strawberry-flavored black tea for an extra strawberry kick. I would also recommend Belgian Chocolate or Rose tea.
  • Strawberries: I used fresh strawberries, as they are in the season and I couldn’t resist the flavor. However, if you can’t find fresh fruits, use frozen strawberries instead.
  • Quick Cooking Boba (Tapioca pearls): Boba pearls are made of tapioca starch that comes from the cassava root and they are 100% vegan. If you can’t find quick-cooking boba, just adapt the boiling time, as said in the product instructions.
  • Milk: Your day-by-day milk is all you need. However, if you are looking for a vegan or dairy-free option, use almond or oat milk instead.
  • Sugar: Your favorite type of granulated sugar is just fine.

How to Make Strawberry Milk Tea

  1. Prepare Your Tea: First of all, steep the tea bag in a ½ cup of water for 5 minutes. After removing the tea bag, let it cool to room temperature. Finally, put it in the fridge till the other steps of the recipe are completed.
  2. Make the Strawberry Syrup: Then, heat the strawberries, sugar, and water on a frying pan, stirring occasionally. Use a fork to mash all the strawberry pieces with gentle moves. Continue to simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes as it thickens up. After cooling at room temperature, strain the syrup using a fine strainer to remove all the small fruit pieces. Finally, you should end up with about a ½ cup of strained syrup.
  3. Cook the Boba: Add the boba to a small pot with boiled water and cook for 5-10 minutes. If you don’t have quick-cooking boba, boil your Tapioca pearls as said in the product’s instructions. When they are ready, strain the boba and run them under cold water for a minute to cool down. Then, immediately add the Tapioca pearls to the strawberry simple syrup.
  4. Make the Milk Tea: Stir the cold tea, milk, strawberry syrup, and boba together in a tall glass. Lastly, just add some ice cubes and serve!
  5. Enjoy with your loved one!
