Spicy BBQ Pork Flauta Recipe

Thanks so much to Tyson Foods, Inc. for sponsoring today’s post. I was compensated for my time to write this recipe, but all content and opinions are my own. This BBQ Pork Flauta recipe has spicy cheese, fresh tortillas, tender pork, and tangy BBQ sauce. It’s pretty much everything I could want in a meal!

It is no secret that I love spicy Mexican food, but I can be a little picky. I like my margaritas fresh and don’t have time for low-quality tortillas. That’s why I jumped at the chance to write a recipe using TortillaLand tortillas. Have you seen these guys at Costco? They are like homemade but way easier!

TortillaLand tortillas use only five ingredients and taste like homemade! Find them in the refrigerated section at Costco!

These tortillas made with only five fresh ingredients are uncooked, so you cook them up fresh and hot in your own kitchen. It only takes 60 seconds to cook each tortilla and is pretty fun to watch them puff up as they heat. While I was picking the tortillas up at Costco, I also got Kirkland pulled smoked pork to make this recipe extra easy.

I used habanero jack cheese which is spicier than typical pepper jack cheese. Seriously, y’all. It is SPICY! If you want to turn down the heat a bit, use regular pepper jack instead. I bought a brick of cheese and tossed it in my food processor instead of shredding it. I love that because it takes about a minute to do! Once you have your tortillas cooked and your other ingredients ready, all you have to do is roll, bake, and slice!

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Heat a skillet over high heat. Cook tortillas in hot skillet for 30 seconds per side. (Follow instructions on package for more details.) Spread about a tablespoon of BBQ sauce down the center of each tortilla. Sprinkle about 1/4 cup shredded cheese over the sauce, and arrange about 1/2 cup shredded pork over the cheese.
  3. Fold both sides of the tortilla to the center (as shown in photo above). Place tortillas seam-side down in a 9 x 13″ baking dish. Lightly brush the tops of tortillas with oil before placing them in the hot oven.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes, watching the flautas carefully during the last five minutes to make sure they don’t get overbrowned. Slice in half and serve with extra BBQ sauce for dipping if desired.
