Friday Happy Hour: Sunshine in Winter Cocktail Recipe

22 Feb 2013

Sunshine in Winter - a pomegranate cocktail

Our weather has been weird lately. Sometimes sunny and cold, sometimes sunny and warm, and not nearly enough cool, San Francisco fog for my taste. This afternoon it was a tad warm in our house, which gave me a hankering for a refreshing drink. This is a spin on a cosmopolitan, but a little lighter tasting.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. quality orange liqueur (Cointreau or Patron Citronge are good choices)
  • 3 oz. pomegranate juice
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • seltzer water (or lemon-lime soda if you want something sweeter)

Instructions:

  1. Fill rocks or pint glass 3/4 full with ice. Pour in vodka, orange liqueur, pomegranate juice, and lime juice. Stir gently.
  2. Top with seltzer or soda. Umbrellas are optional but suggested for maximum summertime feel.
