This mango milk tea recipe is a quick and easy-to-make refreshing drink, perfect for summer afternoons with friends. Made with natural mango juice, green tea, milk, simple syrup, and boba, this fruity drink gives you tropical chills.
We have all had those hot summer afternoons when no drink is cold enough… Well, this iced tea with milk and bubbles is perfect for those moments. So, stop sweating for no reason, invite some friends over, and start preparing this easy boba milk tea. Your whole afternoon will change just like that!
What Does Mango Milk Tea Taste Like?
Mango bubble tea has a fruity, tropical taste that is perfect for any hot summer afternoon. The drink is sweet, fruity, and super refreshing, but with a creamier twist from the added milk. The amount of milk perfectly complements the freshness of the green iced tea without being too rich.
If you want a less sweet mango tea, you can always adjust the amount of sugar syrup you add. This is also the case when it comes to the mango flavor or the creaminess of the milk. Just go for whatever your family or guests prefer and adjust it to their liking! You have to be confident in your taste and intuition as a cook.
How Many Calories Are in this Mango Milk Tea?
There are approximately 400 calories per one (large) portion. Now, it really depends on the amount of each ingredient you use. For example, if you don’t like your tea sweet and do not use the sugary simple syrup, the result will be less caloric.
Does Mango Milk Tea Have Caffeine?
Yes, there is caffeine in the tea because we use green tea. Even though the amount of caffeine is far less than that in a regular cup of coffee, some people might prefer to use decaffeinated tea.
So, for those times when you prefer a chill drink, try to find caffeine-free green tea. Many brands offer decaffeinated green and even black tea options for people who prefer no caffeine in their drinks. You can also try replacing the tea with more milk and have a rich and milky mango bubble drink. However, I strongly recommend trying it first, as I find it too creamy for my taste.
How to Make Vegan Mango Boba Tea?
If you are looking for a vegan or dairy-free mango milk tea, use almond or oat milk instead of your regular milk. You can also make the drink without milk for a very light and extra reshreshing beverage.
Mango Bubble Tea Step-by-Step Recipe
Now, it’s time to learn how to prepare this fruity refreshing mango milk tea! Even though it takes a little time to prepare, the steps are quite easy and the ingredients list is super affordable for how amazing the drink looks and tastes.
What Is Mango Milk Tea Made of?
1 Green Tea Bag: Feel free to use your favorite type of green tea. I went for jasmine tea.
¾ Cup Mango Nectar: If you have a juicer, the best way to obtain pure mango nectar is to make it yourself. However, we don’t always have the time or the tools needed. So, you can just buy some pure mango nectar or puree, even though it’s a little more expensive than the artificially sweetened juices. Also, try to avoid the mango mixed with other fruit juices as the mango flavor won’t be so authentic in your milk tea.
2 Tbsp Simple Sugar Syrup: If you already have homemade simple syrup on hand, you’ll save some minutes. If not, don’t worry! I have a quick and easy brown sugar syrup recipe. You can always make the simple syrup recipe with white, brown, or demerara sugar.
½ Cup Milk: 2% milk works best. You don’t want your tea to be too rich, as it’s mainly a cold and refreshing treat. If you use whole milk or half and half, the extra fat content will make your drink taste more like a dessert instead of a summer thirst quencher.
1/8 Cup Quick-Cooking Tapioca Pearls: Boba pearls are 100% vegan. Even though the original recipe uses black boba, I preferred to use white pearls for this mango milk tea recipe. However, the texture and taste are similar, so use whatever type of boba you find. In addition, if you can’t find quick-cooking boba, just adapt the boiling timing to what the product’s instructions recommend. If you do not have boba, this mango drink is still great without it.
A handful of Ice.
I love this recipe so much because every ingredient is affordable and easy to find, and the directions are really simple. Even the boba should be easy to find at any Asian supermarket or online.
How to Make Mango Milk Tea with Boba
Prepare the Green Tea: Steep the tea bag in a 1/2 cup of water for 5 minutes. After removing the tea bag, let it cool to room temperature and then chill in the fridge.
Make the Sugar Simple Syrup: Heat the sugar and water on a pan over low to medium heat. Don’t forget to stir occasionally. You can make this simple syrup using any time of sugar. Just keep in mind they will change the flavor with brown sugar, adding more molasses flavor and white sugar being just sweetness without any extra flavor. If you are in a hurry you can boil water in a kettle and pour it over the sugar in a glass and stir. Just be careful as it will be really hot. It is not necessary to “cook” the sugar syrup?
Prepare the Tapioca Pearls: Add the boba to a small pot with boiled water and cook for 10-15 minutes. If you don’t have quick-cooking boba, boil them as said in the product’s instructions. When they are ready, strain the boba and run them under cold water for a minute to cool down. Then, immediately add the Tapioca pearls to the brown sugar simple syrup.
Prepare the Mango Milk Tea: Stir the mango juice, chilled green tea, and milk together. Add in the cooked boba pearls and use simple syrup to taste. Finally, add a handful of ice and enjoy your refreshing milk tea!
