How to Make the Perfect Mango Tango Cocktail
Before we begin preparing the mango cocktail together, I think it’s best to learn some tips and tricks. I always love to learn everything there is to know about a new recipe before I start preparing it, as it gives me time to process it thoroughly. Now that we have learned how to make this easy cocktail recipe (a sweeter version of the Rusty Nail), the pro tips are even more appreciated. You know you still want to impress your guests!
Therefore, these are some tips and tricks to prepare the Mango Tango cocktail like a pro:
Even though we don’t tend to have coconut rum on hand, try to respect this detail of the recipe. I tried to replace it with white rum, praying not to change the initial taste too much. Well, unfortunately, it did. So, I strongly recommend going and buying some coconut rum for all the tropical cocktails you’ll prepare.
When preparing cocktails in general, freshly made fruit juice and nectar are the best options you can go for. When it comes to the Mango Tango cocktail, this is also the case. If you can, try preparing your own mango nectar and orange juice with a juicer. It really makes a difference but does take extra time. If you do not have a juicer, try to buy fresh juices that are in the refrigerated section of your grocery store and are not from concentrate.
Make this extra cocktail refreshing by serving it in a cold glass. After lining the rims of your cocktail glasses with sugar (optional), chill them in the fridge for at least an hour before serving.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have coconut rum in my bar at home the first time I made this, so I used only white rum. Don’t get me wrong the cocktail was delicious, however, I strongly recommend you use coconut rum if you want to achieve the tropical Caribbean flavors bouquet. I remade the recipe with coconut rum and it was even better!
Step-By-Step Recipe
Add the coconut rum, triple sec, mango nectar, orange juice, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Also, add some ice cubes even if you’re ingredients are already freezing cold from being in the fridge/freezer.
Shake vigorously for a few seconds. This will help chill the drink, melt the ice, and slightly dilute the cocktail, helping to balance it out.
Properly prepare your cocktail glasses. I added some sugar to the rim of my glasses to impress a little more. The sweetness of the sugar gives some extra flavor to the first sip. Always use a lime or lemon on the rim of the glass before adding a sugar or salt rim. Also, sugar and salt won’t typically stick to plastic, so ensure you use glass.
Strain the cocktail from the shaker and serve.
