Nutty Root Beer Cocktail

https://wearychef.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC00042.jpg

Those of you who follow me on Facebook may have seen this root beer cocktail as an impromptu recipe a few weeks back, but it’s so good I wanted to give it the attention it deserves. I’m not typically a big fan of soda, but this drink is worth making an exception. I recommend using all-natural soda if you can find it, and diet root beer will taste just as good! Be careful with this one.  It’s as tasty as a milkshake, and you can hardly tell there’s booze in it — always a dangerous combination!

Nutty Root Beer Cocktail

This simple cocktail tastes like coconut cream soda. Very tasty!

  • Total Time: 1 minute
  • Yield: 2 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ounces coconut rum
  • 12 ounces root beer (all-natural is best, and diet works great)
  • 2 ounces half and half

Instructions

  1. Fill two 12-oz. glasses 3/4 full with ice. Pour 1 1/2 oz. rum into each glass, then fill 3/4 full with root beer.
  2. Slowly pour 1 oz. half and half into each glass so that it “floats” on the top. Serve with a straw if you have one. Stir together before drinking.
  3. High five yourself for making a tasty, easy cocktail.

This is DELICIOUS!! I bought A&W Zero this week and was wondering what I can mix with it. Always have coconut rum and 1/2 and 1/2 on hand anyway.

LOL! You and my sister have the same mindset in doing some substitute ingredients. Maybe, I guess but it would be better to have some research on that. If you try that, how does it taste?

I can’t help but be just a little embarrassed that I once again have all of the ingredients on hand. Seems we have similar pantries or tastes or something.

Saw WC facebook page before seeing the blog post and was concerned you’d be looking for cynar. o-: Am off to make a nutty coconut drink. My inlaws will be here for the weekend in three short hours and I should really start drinking now ;-)

I do think we have similar tastes for sure, but now I know that you actually didn’t have all the ingredients. Subbing in orange soda for the root beer was very clever, my friend.

We’re going to visit our in-laws next week!
