I LOVE taco night, and this is my new favorite way to make crunchy tacos! Have you tried making tacos in the oven yet? You stuff crunchy shells with meat, beans, cheese, and whatever else you want, stand them up in a pan, and then bake them until hot.

The baking process makes the shells pliable enough to not break in half and leave you with a plateful of disintegrated taco, but still sturdy enough to hold up to all the delicious fillings. Serve your baked tacos with a toppings bar including shredded cabbage or lettuce, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and whatever other fixings you like.

Not only do I love these baked tacos, my whole family does too! I made them for a weekend lunch recently, and I was so happy that I made a meal that every single person liked! That doesn’t happen at our house that often. At all. My boys are kinda picky and kinda spoiled, so they don’t eat most of the recipes I share with you here. These are winner for kids and adults though. I hope you enjoy these oven tacos as much as we do!

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add meat, and break it up with a spoon or spatula to cook. Sprinkle taco seasoning over meat, and continue to crumble and brown meat until cooked through.
  3. While meat is cooking, arrange taco shells, standing up, in a square or 9 x 13" baking dish sprayed with cooking spray or aluminum foil.
  4. When meat is cooked through, stir in refried beans and salsa. Cook a couple more minutes until beans are heated.
  5. Spoon meat mixture into taco shells until about 2/3 full. Sprinkle a layer of cheese into each taco.
  6. Bake tacos in preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Serve with assorted toppings and enjoy!
Recipe Notes

Top your baked tacos with your favorite condiments like sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or shredded cabbage!

These tacos hold together so much better than the unbaked taco shells. A new family favorite! Thanks, Andi. I love your site.
