Ingredients
- 3 tbsp. olive oil
- 3 tbsp. soy sauce
- 3 tbsp. molasses
- 1 tbsp. white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1–2 jalapenos sliced into rings
Instructions
-
Whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, molasses, sugar, and garlic powder. Stir in jalapeno slices. Add chicken, and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 8 hours.
-
Spray a large skillet with cooking spray, and heat over medium-high heat. Add chicken to hot skillet, and cook about 8 minutes per side, or until cooked through. (These would also be great grilled!)
Notes
This dish might be too spicy for kids, so you could leave out the jalapenos and still have tasty molasses chicken!

Is there a molasses in particular which you used? e.g. pomegranate?
Thank you Andi for the nice recipes. Happy 4th to you and your family!
I hope you had a great holiday weekend, Liz! Thank you!
I love the jalapenos on top of the chicken! Pinning! :)
Thank you, Teresa! I didn’t write about putting the peppers on top since I mostly did it for looks (the chicken was plenty spicy on its own). Maybe I’ll write in that I sauteed them with the chicken and put them on top for serving. Definitely made for a nice presentation :)
I love the spice on these chicken breasts, perfect for my jalapeno love!
Oh why yes, I love spicy food! And, this is perfect for my salivating taste buds!
I think I started liking my food spicier with each pregnancy. If we have a third kid, it’s going to get ridiculous ;) Nice to hear from you, Gloria! xo
