Spiked Chocolate Cherry Milkshake

Hi there!  How are you, and how are your homemade maraschino cherries?  Have they been soaking all week in anticipation for this Chocolate Cherry Milkshake?  I hope so, but if not, don’t worry.  There is no shame in using store-bought cherries if that’s all you have available. Chocolate Cherry Milkshake - Make it a cocktail or a kid-friendly dessert! Today I wanted to bring you something a little different: A dessert cocktail!  This is not what I first had in mind for a new cherry cocktail, but what goes better with cherries than chocolate and ice cream?  It’s like a sundae in a glass.  With vodka!  It doesn’t get much better than that if you ask me. This could easily be made into a nonalcoholic shake by eliminating the vodka, although I wouldn’t recommend giving kids the Luxardo cherries from my recipe.  To skip the booze, please use maraschino cherries that you know are alcohol free.

looks divine. I’ll give it a go tomorrow, though will sub in whatever ice cream I have and also use whipped cream vodka. Where did you get the inspiration for that? What a fun drink :-)

Speaking of vodka, made a batch with Swedish fish, but took them out after only a few hours so they wouldn’t go to mush. The fish were gross, but the vodka pretty and sweet.

Chocolate ice cream would of course also be good or even better! I didn’t really have a source of inspiration for this one. I was planning to make a cherry limeade cocktail, but I saw that exact thing on Pinterest this week and didn’t want to be a copy cat. I was happy to make something different anyway because so many cocktails are fruity.

I love that you are still going with the candy infused vodka! I think Swedish fish are gross in any case, but I can see how they could add goodness to vodka. I’ll go check your FB page for a photo.

not on fb–they didn’t even make the cut ;-) And they were so similar to the gummy bear. I did post an excellent Manhattan from my mom’s birthday dinner last night. And today I’ll get going on that ice cream drink.
