Can you believe Halloween is coming up in less than two weeks? Are you excited? We are, and when I say “we” I mean my kids. I’m happy and all, but I can’t compete with how much my boys are looking forward to dressing up and getting sacks of free candy.

Safeway sponsored today’s peanut recipe to celebrate the release of the new Peanuts movie. It’s hard for me to think of Halloween without thinking of Charlie Brown. I grew up watching The Great Pumpkin and bought it on DVD for myself long before I had kids. Now I have introduced the boys to it, and we all watch The Great Pumpkin and eat candy when we get back from trick or treating every year. I can’t wait to see what the new movie is like!

In the spirit of all things Peanuts, I made you some peanut candy! These easy chocolate peanut clusters are what you would get if you crossed Nestlé Crunch bars and Goobers. I could hardly even wait to share this recipe today because I made a movie! With a soundtrack! (I apologize in advance if it’s stuck in your head for the rest of the day.) I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

As you can see, these candies are very simple to make and only need four ingredients. I used bittersweet chocolate chips and honey-roasted peanuts, so they are loaded with rich flavor. This easy candy recipe would also be perfect for giving away for holidays like Christmas or Valentine’s Day (if you can make yourself share).

This easy homemade candy recipe is perfect for holiday treat bags!

• Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
• Yield: 20 1x

Ingredients

Units USM Scale 1x2x3x

• 10 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips (or semisweet)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup Rice Krispies cereal
• 1 cup honey roasted peanuts

Instructions

1. Place chocolate chips in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 60-90 seconds in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. After 90 seconds, you should be able to stir until melted completely. (It takes 1-2 minutes of stirring.)
2. Stir in vanilla and then peanuts and cereal until well mixed.
3. Use a teaspoon or small cookie scoop to drop dollops of candy mixture onto parchment paper. Allow to cool completely before removing from paper to eat or store. To speed cooling process, place candies in refrigerator.
