Homemade Pizza with Halloween Spiderweb

This spiderweb pizza makes a fun and easy Halloween dinner! Get creative and change up the toppings for different occasions! (FYI: Fleishmann’s sent me a pizza making kit, which I used in this recipe.)

This spiderweb pizza makes a fun and easy Halloween dinner! Get creative and change up the toppings for different occasions! #spiderweb #halloween #pizza

What are your Halloween evenings like? Around here, we head out for Trick or Treating before it gets dark and head home when some folks are just getting started. My boys wake up just as early (or earlier!) on Halloween than any other day, so they can’t handle staying out very late without major meltdowns.

Getting an early start is a good thing. My kids don’t have to wait in long lines for candy if they are the early birds! Before we head out, I always try to fill them up with a fun, good dinner so they eat something besides Skittles for dinner. Often that fun dinner is pizza in the living room while we watch something festive like The Great Pumpkin, and what better pizza than this cute spiderweb pizza?

30-Minute Homemade Pizza - No rise time required!

The boys had fun helping me make this pizza. It only took a little more than a half hour start to finish because the spiderweb decoration is a bit time consuming. If you just throw on regular toppings, you can have this pizza ready in less than the time it takes for delivery!

30-Minute Homemade Pizza - No rise time required!

I promise this homemade crust is only a little bit more work than rolling out refrigerator dough (especially when you let your stand mixer do the work like I did), but it’s way better because you made it fresh with quality ingredients!

This homemade pizza recipe definitely won’t be just for Halloween. We had so much fun making and eating it that we’re all excited to make DIY pizza night a monthly or even weekly event! With that super quick pizza crust yeast, we could even do this on a busy weeknight.

This simple pizza recipe can be on the table in about 30 minutes!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour (or in my case spelt flour)
  • 1 envelope Fleischmann’sยฎ Pizza Crust Yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup very warm water 120 to 130ยฐF
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or more to taste
  • 1–2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • your favorite toppings (You will need 6 oz. sliced black olives, a slice of salami, and a mini bell pepper to decorate as shown.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425ยฐF.
  2. In stand mixer bowl, stir together 1 c. flour, pizza crust yeast, sugar and salt. Using a spoon or spatula, stir in water and oil until well blended, about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough, and then mix on medium speed with a dough hook for approximately 5 minutes until dough has formed a smooth ball. (If you are not using a stand mixer, knead dough on a well-floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth instead.)
  4. Use a rolling pin to roll dough into a large circle, and then stretch and pat it into a 12″ pizza pan.
  5. Spread desired amount of pizza sauce over the crust, leaving at least 1/2″ inch around the edges unexposed. Sprinkle cheese over the sauce, and then arrange desired toppings over the cheese.
  6. Bake on lowest oven rack for 12 to 15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and crust is browned.

This looks so delicious! I’ve made pizza from the box before but never from scratch. I need to try these. Especially that Smoked Salmon & Artichoke pizza!

Thanks, Jessica! This crust recipe seems to be pretty foolproof. You can check the original recipe for the full instructions with kneading the dough if you don’t have a mixer. I just figured I might as well let an appliance do the work for me since I have one :)

Thanks so much, Jaren! I was afraid it was hard to tell that it was a spiderweb once it was baked, so I appreciate it :)

Thank you, Tara! My boys like bacon and olives on their pizza, but they had to rough it with just olives this time ;) Have a good Halloween!

This pizza is too cute! This is such great idea to make with the kids. I’m pretty sure my 2 year old would have waaay to much fun with this and the web won’t end up so pretty (or even make it on the pizza for that matter.) Pinned. :-)

I love this idea, super fun for Halloween! I remember starting trick or treating super early so my son could get home to go to bed on time. Luckily he is older now and can handle it a little better. Excited that it is on a Friday this year too!

Thanks, Erin! Yes having Halloween on Friday is nice. I can’t imagine how rough it is for teachers when the day after Halloween is a school day! They already can’t get anything done on the actual holiday, and then they have a bunch of tired kids the next day!
