What time of day do you like to eat peanut butter jelly sandwiches? Would you eat this for breakfast, lunch, or dinner? The right answer is “all three.” I would totally eat this for dinner, but I would probably pair it with french fries because that’s the kind of glutton I am. It would also be perfect for breakfast or lunch with a glass of milk. Melty peanut butter with tangy jelly, creamy banana, and crisp apple is a flavor combo I welcome any time!

I would love to tell you you how my kids loved these because that’s what I expected to happen. My youngest, who was excited about the grilled PBJ concept, told me that he didn’t think making “fruit sandwiches” was a good idea. My oldest, who was more skeptical going in, ate a couple bites and said it was good. Of course, he didn’t actually finish his sandwich, so I wouldn’t call that a slam dunk. I think the deal breaker for both of them was that I accidentally bought crunchy peanut butter. Apparently, that’s inedible as far as they’re concerned. This is my life. They are so finicky!

Fortunately, my husband and I actually like to eat foods with flavor and texture and enjoyed our fruit sandwiches a lot. I was excited that I didn’t get to take photos the first time around because it meant I needed to make myself another one of these grilled PBJs for photos. I loved it even more the second time around, and I know you’ll enjoy it too!

Oh how I don’t miss the days of the reason we won’t eat something that sounds like a deranged person. I only like bananas if you don’t take it out of the peel after just having done so because last time we had a meltdown about the spots on the peel. Only he called it a yellow jacket. So I totally understand when crunchy peanut butter is inedible. As for me I think they missed out. This sandwich looks like the bomb!

Kids kind of turn me into a deranged person, so we’re just a house full of crazies over here. Maybe some sanity will be restored when they are a little older. Thanks, Chandra!
